Video media has always intimidated me.  I was in fear of my voice and movements.  My hypercritical eye, technical fears and workflow insecurities aside this is by far the most incredible communications tool available.

A word or two about the process; the class lectures, technical advice were a good starting point.  I wish I had skipped ahead (like I always do).  Craving a less-stress (think internal vs. external) induced semester.  As I finish a rather rigorous graduate level architecture degree, my project deadlines, advisor co-ordination issues plus the conflicts of having a top level athlete child- really pushed the limits.

Sunday, I had the privilege of watching my sister search through her trash for a valuable misplaced item.  Egg shells, coffee grounds, dead lettuce, beer bottles and cigarette butts: Five bags later and a lot of nausea...I realized the value in recycling & composting.  Not only have I reduced my carbon footprint.  I have an idea of where my dollars go.

Happy Earthday! Clemson University students are hosting the 2nd Annual Earthday event from noon to 4 PM at the Hendricks Center Grand Ballroom.  Originally scheduled at the Carillion Gardens and North Lawn, the event has officially been relocated to avoid seasonal showers and the cooler accompanying weather.

Drink Swear Cry!

Hands up  if you like horror stories... with happy endings! In Landscape Architecture, no assumptions or directions allowed...only analysis, research, data, information then create. We are totally dependent on...What happens next!

Super (Control) Freaks, well this just does not work.  So what do you do?  Ask someone...Elizabeth Gilbert, she should know. She wrote popular, best selling book "Eat, Pray, Love" about creativity and crisis.   Her take on creativity and genius while unorthodox, gives me hope about the projects at hand. Right?

WHERE is the story? HOW do I find it? WHEN I find it how do I tell it?  HOW do I tell the story? WHAT is the story? 

According, to Elizabeth...my questions reflect what most creative people go through...you see the abyss and jump.  You know you won't expire...but, the criticism....the second guessing and the pain or creation.

So this final project stuff is drives me to drink wine, swear at everyone and cry because I have an audience! But Hey...I have some really great photos and video.  I review....all of the notes and recollect my community.  I reflect on the muthos....the technos...then, Ahhhhh!

Dirt to Food...What happen's in between?

SENECA    Dirt has been associated with being impure, foul or unclean.  Through advertising and rhetoric, generations have received misinformation "our soil is bad"!  The truth is  "dirt supports our existence". Without the the soil and earth we would perish.

DIRT to FOOD Project  The name of the project is a study in and of itself.  D2F is a CU student lead organization dedicated to increasing sustainability, creating a food network and educating Clemson University & surrounding areas about fresh, local grown food.

D2F is working with students at Code Academy in Seneca.  According to, Brittany Lusk, March 4th was just the beginning!  The Greenhouse Repair and Seeding activity was the start of a big things at Code!  The D2F workday marked the beginning of a larger project to reach the Code Academy students.

Connecting the students with the season, D2F actively connects staff and students with a big idea: Our food has been super engineered to be cheap and plentiful while providing little nourishment.  

The Dirt to Food Projects seeks to connect with the community and reconnect where a disassociation from the source of of all of our food...dirt.

March 11, friday- D2F is helping Code Academy students install the Early Spring Gardens.  Set up begins at 11AM with activities lasting till 2:30PM.

Sunday- I have this love affair with breakfast. What a great idea to start a day!

Never having a bad one- hot coffee & great conversation- Key to the experience, having it all with your most excellent friend. Today Tony Pannucio (my favorite dining companion) informed me Father West at St. Paul the Apostle Church said,

The Vatican is seeking to become Carbon Neutral!

Upon further investigation, I find out the Catholic Church has become quite active in the sustainability movement.  In fact, the Vatican installed solar panels on Nervi Hall. The Church has called for an "Ecological Conversion"; this is a direct result of the Church's sustainability efforts.
