Friday, April 22
Happy Earthday! Clemson University students are hosting the 2nd Annual Earthday event from noon to 4 PM at the Hendricks Center Grand Ballroom.  Originally scheduled at the Carillion Gardens and North Lawn, the event has officially been relocated to avoid seasonal showers and the cooler accompanying weather.

Organic Clemson University locally grown student leadership
is nurtured and raised though collective
sustainability awareness activities.

While year marks the 41st annual Earthday...a earlier post marked the planning stages for the event.  A"little" group called Students for Environmental Action organized a campus wide effort and celebration! No little group, SEA is built on action supporting Clemson University sustainability quest.  The members do phenomenal work tirelessly.

SEA success, leadership and outreach merits further investigation.

CU Facilities and Recycling Services, Dave VanDeventer announced Clemson has achieved a Recyclemania personal best.  Clemson's recycling rate increased from last year's 17% to 31.95% for 2011. Ranking second overall in the ACC, Clemson ranks 108 out of 288 up from last year's 225 out of 267. CU is best in state, recycling 255,687 pounds during the competition!

So come out and celebrate! Student organizations and vendors will be on hand. Door Prizes and Music by Howie DeWitt.  I can only hope to catch 'Broken Again'... and hey take this opportunity to drop off unwanted, broken, obsolete electronic equipment and used batteries! Think cell phones and TVs...cords... all recycled and salvaged for a better use!

Coke-Cola sponsorship is offering a true reward! Coke sponsorship contributes the "door prize" edge...Exchange any Coke recyclable product for raffle tickets to win cool door prizes - Bicycles and skateboards are rumored bounty!

SEA has made a big difference in the Clemson Sustainability Community. SEA and Clemson has lots to celebrate THIS IS EARTHDAY
